Children’s Social Worker – Shropshire

Pay rate – £38 per hour
 
Contract – Temporary
 
Shropshire Council are recruiting experienced children’s Social Workers for their Children Looked After team.
 
Hybrid working, with office attendance 2–3 days per week at The Guildhall, Shrewsbury
Travel to Shropshire is essential, including the ability to attend in emergencies.
 
As a Social Worker / Senior Social Worker within the Children Looked After Service, responsibilities include:

• Maintaining personal performance with support from the Team Manager
• Undertaking a range of assessments informed by direct work with children and families
• Progressing children’s care and pathway plans, ensuring timely access to appropriate services
• Completing statutory visits to children at home, in foster care, and in residential settings in line with CLA requirements
• Managing cases and coordinating meetings such as care planning, risk management, placement stability, PEPs, and reviews
• Providing information and advice to children and families to support problem resolution
• Undertaking court work where required (e.g., revocation of care orders, SGO applications, placement orders)
• Participating in the team duty system
• Maintaining accurate electronic records in line with policies and procedures

 
 
Children’s Social Workers will need at least 3 years’ permanent experience with an English local authority and to be registered with Social Work England, as per DfE rules.
