A Greater London Childrens Residential home is recruiting Residential Workers to work with children with emotional, behavioural, and attachment issues. The home provides therapeutic care for vulnerable children. The Residential Childcare Workers or Key Workers—act as surrogate parents, educators, and mentors. Rather than taking a purely clinical approach, staff aim to build a “home from home” environment that helps children repair from past trauma and learn life skills.

Key duties:

  • Staff work closely with in-house psychologists and clinical therapists to provide milieu therapy and trauma repair.
  • Workers manage everyday household routines, prepare meals, help with homework, and organize activities like summer holidays and cultural events.
  • Staff are assigned specific children to advocate for, ensuring their educational, emotional, and cultural needs are met while helping them build trusting relationships.
  • The team provides routine, stability, and emotional regulation.
