Advanced Practitioner / Consultant Social Worker – Prisons Project / Family Help Service

  • £40 per hour
  • Merseyside
  • 35hrs per week 
  • Hybrid, 3 days in the office

About the role:

Must be experienced social worker in Children’s Services and have strong Family Help background and understanding of Family Ties Re-Imagined Service.

Must have strong understanding and desirably Prison Liaison Social Worker experience

  • Work as a Consultant Social Worker within the innovative Family Ties Re-Imagined Service.
  • Model excellent social work, supporting colleagues through reflective supervision.
  • Provide management oversight and decision-making on complex cases involving children and families.
  • Work collaboratively with multi-agency partners, including prisons, education, health, and voluntary sector organisations. 
  • Lead on quality assurance, ensuring assessments, plans and interventions are timely, effective and child-focused.
  • Chair professional meetings and multi-agency planning discussions where required.
  • Contribute to service development and innovation, supporting the Council’s vision for transformational family help services.
  • Support the identification and development of family and community resources that prevent escalation to statutory intervention as well as supporting families affected by parental imprisonment. 
  • Represent and promote the Family Ties Re-Imagined Service at events, forums and engagement activities both within custodial settings and in the community, developing effective partnerships with external agencies and stakeholders.

What you need:

  • A degree in Social Work or equivalent
  • Registered with Social Work England
  • At least 3 years PQE direct employment within English Local Authorities
  • Completed relevant post-qualifying training
  • Enhanced DBS check
  • Excellent communication and written skills
