Children’s Social Worker – Cheshire West & Chester

Pay rate – £39 per hour

Cheshire West & Chester Council are currently recruiting experienced children’s Social Workers for their Family Help team based in Ellesmere Port.

Within the framework of relevant legislation, council policies and procedures, the role involves working with and on behalf of children, young people and their families to improve wellbeing, safeguard where necessary, and promote independence. This includes undertaking assessments of need, identifying risks and the need for protection, and developing, coordinating and reviewing multi‑agency plans to ensure outcomes continue to meet assessed needs.
 
The postholder will manage an allocated caseload within a team setting, working collaboratively with statutory and voluntary agencies to deliver agreed services. The role also involves identifying unmet need and gaps in service provision to inform future service development and effective resource allocation. All work must be carried out in accordance with statutory duties, departmental policies and procedures, with responsibility for maintaining accurate and up‑to‑date records on the Integrated Children’s System (ICS).
 
The role requires active participation in professional supervision, team meetings, training and development opportunities, as well as contributing to the evaluation and development of services by sharing knowledge, theory and best practice. The postholder is also expected to provide professional support and guidance to newly qualified and less experienced social work staff to support their development.
 
This is a flexible working role, requiring attendance at the most effective locations and times to meet the needs of the service, service users and the team. As services operate across the borough, the postholder may be required to work at various locations throughout Cheshire West and Chester.
 
 
Children’s Social Workers will need at least 3 years’ permanent experience with an English local authority and to be registered with Social Work England, as per DfE rules.
