Children’s Social Worker – Greater Manchester

Pay rate – £39 per hour
 
Contract – Temporary
 
A Greater Manchester local authority are currently recruiting experienced children’s Social Workers for their Support & Protection team.
 
Hybrid working – 3 days per week in the office (may be negotiable)
 
The Children’s Support and Protection teams provide long-term statutory intervention for vulnerable families.
Duties include managing complex caseloads, executing Child Protection Plans, conducting core assessments, and preparing court evidence. Social workers operate under a restorative and relational practice model to safeguard children and prevent exploitation.
 

• Working with families that require ongoing, long-term support to achieve permanence, often handling Child Protection (CP) cases or Care Proceedings.
• Conducting thorough statutory assessments to determine the appropriate levels of need and thresholds for intervention.
• Liaising closely with partners like the Police, Education Services, and mental health trusts to surround the child with a robust support network.
• Actively identifying risks of child exploitation and taking preventative measures to protect vulnerable young people.
• Creating, developing, and reviewing multi-agency Pathway Plans and core assessments to ensure optimal outcomes.
• Compiling precise, evidence-based reports and representing the local authority in legal proceedings and core group meetings.

 
 
Children’s Social Workers will need at least 3 years’ permanent experience with an English local authority and to be registered with Social Work England, as per DfE rules.
