Permanent Vacancy – Team Manager (Children’s Services)
Sutton
Salary: £49,056 – £57,402
Hybrid Working – Minimum 3 Days in the Office

We are seeking an experienced Team Manager to join the Children Looked After and Leaving Care Service in Sutton. This is a key leadership role overseeing corporate parenting responsibilities from care proceedings through to CLA and Leaving Care.
Golden Hello & Recruitment/Retention Bonus Team Managers in this service are eligible for the following:

  • £1,000 paid in your first month’s salary
  • £1,000 paid after your first completed year
  • £2,000 paid after your second completed year
  • £3,000 paid after your third completed year and annually thereafter

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a multidisciplinary team to deliver effective corporate parenting for children looked after and those leaving care.
  • Ensure all interventions are child-centred, prioritising the best interests of children and young people.
  • Oversee assessment, planning and review processes for CLA.
  • Ensure adherence to statutory requirements, policies and professional standards.
  • Promote a positive, inclusive team culture that supports development and continuous improvement.
  • Oversee care proceedings, care planning, quality assurance and direct work carried out by the team.
  • Chair meetings and work collaboratively with multi-agency professionals to safeguard children and young people.
  • Contribute to high-quality care plans informed by children, families, carers, and partner agencies.

This role offers excellent development opportunities in a dynamic and diverse children’s service environment, ideal for existing Team Managers or experienced Senior Social Workers ready for progression.
Candidate Requirements

  • Registered with Social Work England, holding a degree in Social Work or equivalent.
  • Experience working with children within a care or safeguarding environment.
  • Proven experience leading and managing a multidisciplinary team.
  • Strong knowledge of social work practice, assessment, and statutory responsibilities.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex social issues to families and professionals.
  • Ability to plan and coordinate care plans and manage complex cases with high emotional sensitivity.
