Deputy Team Manager (FRT) – Harrow

Rate: up to £40.50 per hour
 
We are recruiting for motivated qualified social worker to join our busy team. This role is with one of the UK’s highest performing local authorities, serving as one of the best places to live and work in.
 
This is a qualified role requiring you to be SWE registered and have relevant experience within childrens services.
 
Role Purpose:
 

  • To deputise for the Team Manager as and when necessary and to assist in the execution of all managerial functions relating to the smooth running of the social care teams in Targeted Support.
  • To assist Team Managers in supervising and supporting Social Care staff, to provide a range of family support services for children in need, including those in need of protection, children looked after, those subject to public care proceedings and where directed by the court those subject to private care proceedings.
  • To oversee and quality assure complex Parenting Assessments requested by social care teams.
  • To oversee and quality assure multi-disciplinary assessments recommended by formal planning process resulting in written statements and verbal evidence in care proceedings.
  • To take responsibility for developing skills, expertise and knowledge for a wide range of practice issues and to provide consultation, coaching and mentoring within the Team, and across the Service as a whole. This will include taking responsibility to maintain and develop professional links and leads with partner agencies and the voluntary sector.
  • To improve the quality of work done by social workers; including effective case management, purposeful evidence based interventions, analytical assessments and high quality written work.
  • To provide reflective supervision to Social Workers and Social Care Staff including Students
  • To develop specialist areas of expertise as required, for example – early permanency, family justice reforms, early help and safeguarding. Multi-agency working and evidence based social work.

 
General Duties:
 

  • To demonstrate a commitment to the Council’s Equal Opportunities Policy and the ability to understand and implement the policy in relation to the job responsibilities

  • To promote and participate in the council’s individual performance appraisal and development initiatives and information management best practice.
  • To ensure compliance with the council’s information security policies and maintain confidentiality.
  • In accordance with the Immigration Act 2016, where the role is customer-facing and the post holder is required to speak to members of the public, the ability to converse at ease with customers and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential for the post.
  • To deputise for the Team Manager and assist in the management of the Team in a manner that is responsive to legislative requirements as well as corporate and national priorities.
  • To assist in the formulation of the service plan to ensure that all staff have a clear understanding of Team priorities.
  • To provide reflective thoughtful supervision to staff directly linked to improved outcomes for children.
  • To oversee the progress of the Child’s Journey in Harrow
  • To assist the Team Manager in motivating, developing and performance managing a Team of staff capable of meeting its objectives through the process of induction, training, supervision and Team meetings.
