St Helens MB Council are currently recruiting an experienced children’s Social Worker for their Duty team.
 
The Duty Service responds to all referrals received from the MASH and initiates all assessments and plans for children. The Duty Service has 4 teams, each with a team manager, assistant team manager and 6 social workers.  You will be on duty once every 4 weeks in which you will respond to referrals and complete assessments where necessary. The right candidate must have experience of managing CIN/CP and PLO work, managing sec 47 investigations and be able to work at a fast pace.
We are currently looking for temporary workers while we recruit to permanent posts and can assure the correct support will be provided to you with regular supervision and a practice support team on hand to assist in developing your understanding of St Helens practice standards to achieve outstanding practice.
 
The Duty Team is a short-term team so once assessments are competed and a plan established, duty social workers will hold cases for a short-term period on CIN with a view to step down, or where longer-term support is required, and in cases of CP and PLO these will transfer at the first planning meeting.

St Helens work a hybrid way of working and the expectation is you will work a minimum of 2 days a week in the office with the exception being in 5 days when you are on duty.
 
 
Children’s Social Workers will need at least 3 years’ permanent experience with an English local authority and to be registered with Social Work England, as per DfE rules.
