Children’s Social Worker – Rotherham

Pay rate – £35 per hour
 
Contract – Temporary
 
Rotherham Council are currently recruiting an experienced children’s Social Worker/Kinship Care Assessor for their Fostering team.
 
Working Monday – Friday on a ‘hybrid’ basis (minimum of x 3 days per week office based). 
The assessing social worker must have 3 years’ experience as a social worker within Children’s and Young People’s Services, hold a BA in Social Work and have experience of completing Kinship Care assessments using the Form K (as currently used) or prior to this have experience of completing Form C assessments and presenting these to Fostering Panel for consideration. 
Successful applicants will be offered a 4-month contract initially which can be extended by a further 4 months. 
The role will entail completing Form K assessments of kinship carers in or outside of the local authority dependent on the location of family carers. This will include completing all statutory requirements of each individual case including checks, references, weekly planned/unplanned home visits, placement planning meetings and offer support with initial viability visits to locality teams as required.  
The successful applicant will be expected to manage their own work commitments independently, maintain accurate up-to-date records, have excellent communication skills, be willing to be flexible within their approach to the role dependent on the needs of the service and be able to work as part of a busy fostering team committed to ensuring the health, well-being and safety of children, young people and their families in the region.  
Applicants will be expected to attend, contribute to and facilitate meetings applicable to any individual cases allocated to them with support from managers as appropriate. 
 
 
 
Children’s Social Workers will need at least 3 years’ permanent experience with an English local authority and to be registered with Social Work England, as per DfE rules.
