To ensure Southend City Council provides a professional Adoption Service that focuses on children’s best interests. To provide professional and comprehensive casework on the most complex cases within the service. To take a lead on Post Adoption Services and to be a mentor and advisor to team members. To assess and support adoptive carers to ensure that the care that they provide meets the needs of the individual child. To gather, investigate, evaluate and analyse all necessary information on assigned cases, demonstrating clarity of assessment, reliability of information, evidenced, conclusions and realistic action plans. To develop practice, which takes a holistic view of the individual, locating them in both their immediate and extended social circles, and having full regard to their education, social, recreational, and health needs.
This role requires an Enhanced Disclosure from the Criminal Records Bureau and Registration as a Social Worker with the General Social Care Council Degree in SW, DipSW, CQSW or equivalent. Commitment to continuing professional development Social Work England Registration Minimum of 3 years post qualifying experience in working with children and families Experience of the recruitment, training, assessment and support of adopters Experience of multi-disciplinary working Detailed knowledge of methods of social work intervention, child protection, looked after children, fostering and adoption services Knowledge of relevant legislation & regulation including Adoption Regulations 2005 updated 2011 and the Adoption and Children Act 2002 and the National Minimum Standards for Adoption2011.
